A person who is injured at work, or who has a condition or disease caused or aggravated by work, is covered by the Michigan workers' compensation law. He or she is entitled to benefits for wage loss, medical expenses, attendant care and vocational rehabilitation. We provide advice and representation in this area in order to ensure, among other things, that the benefit payments are correct, vocational rehabilitation is instituted when appropriate, the employee is treated fairly and in compliance with the statute throughout the process, and the client receives a fair and equitable payment if the claim is redeemed or settled.Social Security DisabilityWe represent clients in the area of Social Security Disability benefits for people under 65 years old who are disabled from working. To be entitled to Social Security Disability benefits, the individual must be totally disabled from any full-time, gainful employment and such disability must be expected to last at least one year. Obtaining benefits can be a complicated procedure and we provide representation at the initial application stage, the hearing before the Social Security Administrative Law Judge and, if necessary, on appeal to Federal District Court. Having experience in all of these inter-related specialty areas is of great benefit to our clients - while our attorneys will provide representation in each area separately, they are able to recognize and pursue additional claims for the client's benefit. |
