Ann Arbor, MI – Pear Sperling Eggan & Daniels, P.C., is pleased to announce that Jeremy Kennedy has joined the firm, working out of its Ann Arbor office.
Jeremy primarily practices in the areas of litigation, real estate, commercial transactions, and labor and employment law. Jeremy has handled numerous complex, multi-party litigation matters in state and federal courts; lead labor negotiations; and negotiated various cross-collateralized commercial transactions, including business licensing and sales. Prior to joining Pear Sperling Eggan & Daniels, P.C., Jeremy worked at a boutique litigation firm in Bloomfield Hills, where he was a supervising attorney. As a supervising attorney he was responsible for managing litigation matters, determining trial strategy, conducting discovery, and overseeing all phases of cases, from the pre-suit investigation stage through resolution of the matter, whether by settlement, trial, or appeal. Prior to that, Jeremy served as an assistant city attorney for the City of Westland and as general counsel to a local transit authority in western Wayne County.
Jeremy is a 2001 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, where he participated in the Michigan criminal law clinical program, working on a federal habeas corpus appeal. In 1999 he earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, graduating with honors in political science and English. His political science senior thesis examined the use of mass warrantless searches in the Chicago housing projects in the 1990s as a means to protect the safety of the residents there, and the appropriateness of these tactics in a liberal democratic society. Jeremy recently published an article entitled The Proper Role of Standing Under Michigan Law, in which he examined and discussed the relationship and confusion between capacity to sue and standing under Michigan law.
