What inspired you to become an attorney?
When I was 19 years old, I was ticketed for careless driving after an accident in a work truck. On the scene, the police officer noted some structural damage to the truck and questioned whether it could have been a factor in the accident. During the hearing, I introduced the officer's prior statements and the additional evidence that the truck was improperly loaded. It worked and the ticket was ultimately dismissed. I walked out of the courthouse that day with a sense of purpose and desire to return.
How did you choose your area of legal practice?
I started practicing on my own directly out of law school and took every court appointment available to gain experience. Most of the available work was in criminal and domestic matters. Because freedom and family are vitally important, representing clients in these areas provides opportunities to have a meaningful and tangible impact on a client’s quality of life.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Finding a creative solution to a difficult problem.
What’s one challenge you frequently help clients overcome?
Helping them get out of their own way—often by offering clarity, perspective, and a path forward.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what career path might you have pursued?
Something in the world of sports—perhaps as an agent, in team management, or as a broadcast journalist.
